Polish job-seekers left out in the cold in Edinburgh

POLISH immigrants who have come to the Capital seeking a better life have been left penniless and sleeping in homeless shelters after not being able to find work.
A leading city homeless organisation says it has seen a huge rise in the number of Polish migrant workers who have turned to it for help in recent months.
The Polish Consul General has called for the authorities to provide more help to immigrants until they find work.
Sara Brand, of the Ark Trust drop-in centre in the Old Town, said it first became aware that the Polish community were experiencing problems in March.
She said: "I think they have come here with very little money and that money has quickly depleted because they have had to spend it on accommodation.
"I know most of them are trying very hard to find work but communication problems are keeping them back."
Around 30 men between the ages of 22 and 35 are regularly going to the Ark for food hand-outs and cheap meals.
One of the reasons why the Polish immigrants are having such a hard time is differences in language. Since both the Scots and the British colonists in the north of Ireland speak the same language it would make more sense for the British government to relocate the colonists to Scotland than trying to use foreign-speaking immigrants to solve Scotland's economic problems.

Who are the colonists? Those who self-describle themselves as Unionist who have been there for so long that they have no familial connection whatsoever with the areas to where, in your fucked up world, they would be forceably relocated from their homes?
No wonder they have no truck with the idea of a United Ireland if that is the fate that awaits them with nutjobs like you in charge.

What a plank. How long do you have to live here not to be a colonist? How far back do you have to trace your family tree. Many of what he describes as "Colonists" have been in Ireland far longer than the White man has been in the New World. Does he advocate the entire caucasian population of the States moving back to Europe.

I am against the ethnic cleansing of indigenous peoples. I have no problems with the "ethnic cleansing" of colonial populations.

I love the way you can simplify 400 years of history into natives and colonialists, people have moved all over the world for thousands of years there are no true indigineous people everyone has mixed "blood". Sometimes the reasons for the movements of peoples are wrong and have detrimental effects on the prior inhabitants (NI,USA) but as time passes culture develops and people call where where they are born "home".

Yes all white americans should go back to Europe, Ireland would have a serious population problem if the 38million Irish-americans turned up on your/our shores. But it'd be okay cos they were indigenous!

How is pointing out that the unionists are descended from British colonists who came to the north of Ireland in the early 1600's simplifying history?

From what I understand, most economists believe that Ireland needs more immigrants to keep its economic growth going strong. These returning Irish people would greatly contribute to the future success of the Irish economy.
